Doing our bit

In an industry often berated for its ‘ungreen’ credentials, we always strive to do our bit and minimise waste where possible. Carpet is a case in point – we use a huge amount every year, and provide new carpet to every event to ensure a clean finish. From the beginning of this 2011 season we have been sending all of our used carpet back to the manufacturers for recycling. In order for this to be cost-effective for the manufacturers we are required to amass a significantly large quantity, rolled and stored under cover, before they are prepared to collect, and so we utilise the extensive space we have at our purpose-built Marlborough premises.

A busy summer!

Flying in the face of the recession we are currently heading for our busiest year so far, working on more sites and for more clients than ever before! We are fortunate to have a large quantity of annual/repeat work, but in addition have contributed towards many one-off celebrations for new clients, including top-flight caterers, event co-ordinators and private individuals.

Recent Events

Recent events we have contributed towards include: -

May 2010: The Ray Ward Charity Clay Day in aid of The Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital & Racing Welfare

We are proud to have been involved in this event at the beautiful Highclere Castle, nr.Newbury, in aid of two very worthy causes. We provided canopies across the Castle’s 1000 acre estate for the various shoots throughout the day, and a large main structure for a gala dinner / auction for 250 guests afterwards, which raised an amazing £275,000.00!

Our provision also included layout design, lighting, staging, front and back of house furniture, power supply & distribution, kitchen equipment, temperature control and technical event personnel.

August 2010: Pre-Season Party for a Premiership Football Club, on behalf of top-flight Event Co-ordinator David Curtis

Using our new Levelling Sub-Floor System (see ‘New Equipment’ below) we supplied a structure for a pre-season BBQ Family Party for a premiership football club, hosted just outside London.

Upon a sloping lawn, some 100 metres from the nearest off-loading point, we built a 12m x 30m structure with 3m side walls, upon a sub-floor raised from zero to just under 2m from the ground. Including solid glazing to 2 sides, and bespoke steps and ramps, the structure was unfussy, smart and ultimately provided the peace of mind of a solid and safe sub-structure – we require every structure to be thoroughly safe, but the presence of so many of the football world’s ‘great and good’ focused the mind even more!
